Artist's Statement
The dog featured in these portraits is my dog, the first pet I’d ever had from an infant. He does agility courses with my mom and when he’s not sleeping he has loads of energy. Since he was the first pet I’d known for its entire life, he has become an important part of my family and my life. He is a challenge to take pictures of as he’s always moving and it’s nearly impossible to get him to look where you want him to without food. That’s exactly what we ended up doing, my mom held some food behind me and told him to sit while I tried to position myself the best I could. The lighting wasn’t great because we had to shoot in the house, without natural light, where there were less animals and people to distract him. Overall, I think the portraits came out very well.
